Demand for EV Car Charging Set to Increase

With increasing consumer demand, greater availability of electric models and government support, electric car sales have been growing strongly and there are now over 620,000 battery-electric cars on UK roads, plus a further 440,000 plug-in hybrids.

What exactly is EV charging?

Quite simply, both electric vehicles and plug in hybrid electric vehicles require an EV charger to keep the battery full, just like any chargeable device. However, these specialist charging stations aren’t something you can buy of the shelf, they need to be professionally installed by qualified tradesmen.

So, where is the opportunity?

As the number of EV car registrations continues to grow year after year, the demand for EV charging points has increased massively. Between the end of 2016 and 2021 the charge point network grew from 6,500 to more than 28,000 devices-a growth of 36%.

Home EV installation will also be impacted by the end of the EV Government grant in April 2022, which will see more homeowners shop around to find the best supplier irrespective of the scheme associate OZEV.

So in short, now is a great opportunity to become an EV charging point installer.
